    • Well, thanks! I just picked it up and look forward to hearing it. By the way, thanks for keeping this tribe up and running!
      • Some of the most insanely, aggressively cheerful music you will ever find. You will ever so less-than-three it.
        • Well, thanks. You were right, this is great! Not sure how I missed this one. Any other things I should look for that I might have missed?
          • her first album, from when she was 11, it's released in 1977, you can find it in weird locations, i got a copy from a friend, he found it in tokyo....... i don't know the title, but it's got a picture of her on the front in an aladdin / persian fairy tale style interior...... the music is disco icelandic trippy kids music..... my 4-year old daughter LOVES it, but then again, so do i..........!
i made a slew of copies of them for her show here at pier 33 and a little mini-zine and sold them for $5 : i was trying to make back my ticket price!!! in the end, i didn't make much money because i kept giving them away, there were all these very beautiful people who had never heard it before.........
            heheheheeeee
send me a message with your address and i'll mail you one for your new year!

            • i found the album you were talking about on the björk website:
              Band: solo
              Title: "Björk"
              Catalog no: FA-006
              Label: Fálkinn
              Released: December 1977 (Iceland only)
              Format: LP, MC

i would LOVE a copy of the album! thanks a billion.
      • thanks! i am so glad this tribe is becoming more active.

do you have her telegram album? it is a remix album of some of her songs. it is really a great album.

        enjoi gling gló!
    • I wouldn't classify it as a jazz album, although there
is one nicely done jazz standard, "I Can't Help Lovin'
      That Man." Wonderful music, though.
      • I take that previous post back. I guess it's been too long since I've
        listened to it. Definitely jazz.
        • I'm pretty sure i read somewhere that the pianist for the Icelabndic Jazz Trio is Bjork's father.

Then again, there's lots of things i'm pretty sure of....
          • i think her dad is an electrician.
            • A little research (that I shoulod have done first) reveals that two of the trio have the name Guðmundur which is the same as her father and maybe that's how the rumor got started. Anyway, I apologize for my part in it.

Not that electricians can't play jazz, of course.
    • Oh this sound good. I must get this.

", thanks for keeping this tribe up and running! "

Yes Boricualeenda thanks. I am sure that Father Oceania would have aslo done a great job here. We are lucky that you both wanted to do it.
      • yes, i'm sure father oceania would have been great. i am definitely thankful for this opportunity to share my love for björk with all of you!

        ;-)
        • Unsu...

"...performed by Björk with the Icelandic jazz group Gudmundar Ingólfssonar Trio...The trio consists of pianist Gudmundar Ingólfsson (who, contrary to popular rumor, is not Björk's father), Gudmundur Steingrímsson on drums, and Thórdur Högnason on bass. Björk performed with this trio a few times before they recorded Gling Glo, and everyone must've had a good time, because the album captures the group moving through a mixture of jazz numbers and Icelandic songs with a free and easy feel...."

this album is the best. so much fun. best taken with hot chocolate and cookies.
          • "this album is the best. so much fun. best taken with hot chocolate and cookies. "

A ringing endorsement if ever I heard one.
  • This album is beautiful. Jazzy/lounge music. Different Vibe. All the songs are in various languages, with the exception last two which are in English. That never really bothered me! It's Borjk, and her voice is so unique, she's fun to listen to no matter what language you are listening to.
    • Gling Glo is a collection of music that we (I'm about Bjork's age) listened to when we were fairly young. I'm thinking it's music from the sixties maybe earlier. To be honest I never liked it enough to know exactly when it was first released. Some of of the songs were my mom's favorate party songs... The Jazz trio and Bjork "jazzed" up this "old timer pop music" and made it in my oppinion absolutely fu...ing awesome.
Of course it doesn't hurt to understand the words and have the music as a part of your childhood memories of your mom getting tipsy and dancing to it :)
