I don't know if anyone else has heard this, but I was pretty surprised to hear that she is working with Timbaland:
www.aolmusicnewsblog.com/2006/...aland/
Bjork is collaborating with Timbaland for her new album, the follow-up to 2004's vocal-and-sample-based 'Medulla.' According to New York's Manhattan Center Studio, the Icelandic songstress and the hip-hop producer recently recorded there, with Jimmy Douglas (Jay Z's 'The Blueprint') acting as engineer.
Bjork, no stranger to left-field musical adventures, recently teamed with avant garde director/boyfriend Matthew Barney for the soundtrack to his film 'Drawing Restraint 9.' She is also releasing 'Surrounded,' a box set of her seven solo albums, on June 27.
Timbaland most recently offered his talents to Nelly Furtado, producing more than half of the tracks on her new album, 'Loose,' and appearing in the video for the first single, 'Promiscuous.'

Re: Bjork's new album
10/24A lot of Timbaland's stuff can be really spacey and glitchy, so I'm not so surprised. Check out some of the stuff's he's done with MIssy Elliot. -

Re: Bjork's new album
10/24yeah just hopefully we dont have a hip hop album, i wouldnt want bjork to start flowing with bubba sparx or some shit -

10/24i'm not surprised.....she played a ton of hip hop off her computer here in san francisco a few moths ago. it was surprising ...she was way into it she seemed to have a fondness for destiny's child . (yes i'm serious she played them alot) -

Re: Bjork's new album
10/26yes, the photos from that event were awesome. i wish i coulda been there! i saw a clip of her dancing wildly to destiny's child. it is interesting though, because i remember her saying that she didn't listen to vocals b/c it would have an impression on her voice. maybe that has changed...

That sounds familliar to me too. Well, i've said some things while drunk too... :)
In view of her last album, i guess she must indeed have changed her mind.. Doesn't really sound like her attitude though, come to think of it.
Well, i don't care who she's working with this time. One way or another, i'm sure i'll be first in line at the record shop. -

Re: Bjork's new album
10/27kt was cool with the medulla album, i remember it was 2004 a week before it came out, and i was traveling back from shambhala, and stopped in portland at this record store, and bought shitload of records, and dude was saying something about new bjork album, i was like what, and they had a promo of it, and then they burned me a copy, and i was so happy and they hooked up some good hookups!! which ws great, driving back from canada listening to new bjork album right when all the olympics were going off, that was a great ride home i remember stopping at costco somewehere for bathroom break for the hitchers, and they were showing lion king on there 30 tvs while the one song is all do it now, do it now, and it gets all lion king on it, that was a moment had my windows down and blasting the bjork album before anyone had it, the general public that is, then i rember stopping at guitar center and tested out them new digital 1200's and i mixed some bjork with some aphex twin, and was doing all kinds of tricks with it, and i ended up buying one right there , and a pioneer 555, gee what a trip!! -

Re: Bjork's new album

Re: Bjork's new album
11/08ok so i got a medulla boot rite b4 i left for burning man 2004
i then proceeded to terrorize our little segment of the esplanade (hello dustfish!!!) through every dust storm i blasted medulla through the sound system
i loved watching people looking with great dizziness and confusion at the weirdness emenating from the desolate bar in the dust
i was in little heaven listening to where is the line and oceania radiating through the whiteness
i do have to admit that the "wake us from the deep sleep" through a dust storm in the mid afternoon and all the throat singing the first time it's been played into the air is really really

it did keep the crowds away from the vodka though i do think my fellow dustfish were ready to kill me by friday afternoon
heheheheheeeee
oh, imagine if i'd had the drawing restraint 9 soundtrack!!!!!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW ALBUM!!!!!
HURRAH!

Re: Bjork's new album
10/30one of my favorite memories is watching Bjork at an afterparty in Paris singing along to Missy's Get your Freak On. She was wasted and knew every syllable. You haven't lived until you've seen Bjork lift up her fist and scream "Who's that Bitch!"

Re: Bjork's new album
11/09Well, I just have to say that the new album of Nelly Furtado is way disapointing. She has sold out and made herself sound like Britteny Spears. All her uniqueness out the window. PLEASE GOD don´t let BJORK fall into the same trap!!! -

Re: Bjork's new album
11/09How dare you mention Bjork and Nelly Furtado in the same sentence. ;) -

Re: Bjork's new album
11/09he he,

Re: Bjork's new album

Re: Bjork's new album
11/10my husband's guilty pleasure is listening to nelly furtado.
we were talking about the björk/timbaland collaboration recently and we were kinda surprised that she would entrust an entire album to one person. i know she did that with matmos, but i think they are much different than timbaland. we thought it woulda been much, MUCH cooler if she collaborated with different people in the album, ESPECIALLY with the RZA from Wu-Tang. i know they have a mutual respect for one another and he is much more original. he has also been scoring soundtracks lately, so his sound is both theatrical and earthy at the same time. my husband thinks that Timbaland bases a lot of his sounds off of neptunes. i'm sure it will be great b/c it is björk, but i am not a timbaland fan. plus, didn't justin timberlake use him on his last album??
i guess we'll just wait and see... -

Re: Bjork's new album
11/10I don't think that Bjork would ever entrust an album to one producer. She never has. Check out the credits of vespertine: Matmos does the beats on just a few songs. They were in collaboration through much of the process, but Bjork didn't just hand them the songs and say produce this. Rather the collaboration was a dialogue. In the vespertine tour documentary Bjork talks about Matmos as the virtuosos that lend their touch. While much of the inspiration for the sound of the album came from Matmos, it was very much a Bjork production. I expect that her collaboration with Timbaland will follow similar lines. It won't be Bjork as a hip hop pop artist, but a textured version of Bjork. Just as Vespertine doesn't sound like Matmos, I can't imagine that this new album will sound like Missy Elliot or Nelly Furtado.
I'm excited to hear what comes of this collaboration. I love the hip hop beats on Medulla and I'm curious to hear what Bjork does with a deeper collaboration with American hip hop. -

Re: Bjork's new album
11/10Even though I am surprised about this Timbaland collaboration, I trust Bjork's musical judgement. She is probably as much of a producer as the producers she brings on board...whatever happens, it will still sound like Bjork.
I'm excited that we will have a new album in the not to distant future! -
-
Re: Bjork's new album
11/10yes, i hold björk's musical standards to the highest degree as well. it is definitely exciting and i am sure that it will be groundbreaking. i can't wait...it has been too long!
